Operated by Safer City Solutions (Pty) Ltd ("Safer City", "we") for the Safer City Sentinel / Prometheus platform. Last updated: on publication.
We process personal information to help security companies, armed responders, guarding firms and Community Policing Forums prevent and respond to crime. We are committed to processing it lawfully under POPIA.
Some processing — for example POI watchlists, camera/ANPR data and information about alleged criminal conduct — may constitute special personal information and/or information about children under POPIA. We process it only where the Act permits (including where processing is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of a right or obligation in law, or for the prevention, detection and prosecution of offences), and we apply additional safeguards. Partners who contribute such data warrant they have a lawful basis to do so.
Crime prevention, detection and response; dispatch and coordination; situational awareness; and platform administration. We rely on legitimate interests in public safety, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where applicable.
Data is isolated per organisation — each partner sees only its own operation. We share information with authorised responder partners strictly on a need-to-know basis, with our processors under written contract, and with law-enforcement authorities where lawful. We do not sell personal information.
We apply appropriate technical and organisational safeguards (encryption in transit, access controls, per-organisation isolation). We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes above or as required by law, and we host data in South Africa where feasible; any cross-border transfer is subject to POPIA safeguards.
Subject to POPIA you may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal information, and object to processing. Contact our Information Officer (below). You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
Under the Promotion of Access to Information Act, you may request access to records we hold. Requests must be made to the Information Officer using the prescribed PAIA request form, and may be subject to the Act's grounds for refusal and prescribed fees. Our full PAIA manual is available on request and will be published here once finalised.
